Job Responsibilities and Requirements: Responsible for project based fund raising and supporting Extension fund raising. Reports to the Assistant Dean for CALS College Advancement. Works with the Associate Dean of CALS and Director of NC State Extension who will set fund raising priorities for this position and the fund raising team. Develop and implement fund raising strategies to meet the needs of the program. Serve as an active team member in the development and implementation of NC State Extension Service short-term and long-term planning objectives. Gain a comprehensive understanding of the priorities of NC State Extension and make a persuasive oral and written case for supporting key programs. Develop and implement immediate and long-range plans for enhancing the image of, and expanding major gift support. Lead a team of Development Officers who will support the development activities of the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Agriculture Programs Foundation and the NC 4-H Development Fund. Coordinate with the development officer assigned to the ECA and FCS Foundations on fundraising and board activities. Provide guidance and leadership for the Board of Directors of the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Agriculture Programs Foundation. Other Work/Responsibilities Other related duties as assigned. Minimum Education/Experience Requires a relevant post-Baccalaureate degree with a minimum of three (3) years or greater of related professional experience, or a relevant undergraduate degree and a minimum of five (5) years or greater of relevant experience may be substituted for the advanced degree. Departmental Required Skills Proven track record as lead fund raiser in identifying, cultivating and closing major gifts. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Applicants must have evidence of successful work with teams and leadership, as this position works closely with the Administrative Team of the NC State Extension Service with the diverse client and constituency groups of the NC State Extension Service including farmers and agribusiness leaders. Must be able to travel. Some weekend/evening events and overnight travel required. Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education Master s degree in relevant discipline, with 3 years of related professional experience. 5 years of successful experience in philanthropy. Fundraising experience in a university setting. Knowledge of NC State Extension a plus. Required License or Certification A valid drivers license is required for travel. NC drivers license required within 60 days of hire and must be maintained.
