Job Responsibilities and Requirements: Responsibilities Lead a global team of copyright counsel in developing and executing our copyright strategy and managing the company s copyright risk. Manage team performance, provide mentoring and career development. Advise executive management and business and product leaders on complex copyright matters. Provide strategic direction and oversight of key initiatives. Engage with Legal, Public Policy, Product, and Engineering in advising Google on copyright issues and choices in its product development. Supervise and direct financial and resource planning and deployment for the Copyright Team. Collaborate with in-house litigation team and outside lawyers on Google s own litigation, both in setting strategy and in close attention to arguments raised in briefing, as well as monitoring copyright developments in litigation involving other companies. Develop and implement anti-piracy strategies to address emerging challenges online, including interfacing with rightsholder partners to identify opportunities for improved collaboration. Qualifications Minimum qualifications: JD degree or equivalent practical experience. Admitted to the bar in which the role is located in and are in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law (e.g., have registered in-house status) in the state in which the role is located. Management and team leadership experience. Preferred qualifications: Strength and versatility across the range of our substantive legal issues. Ability to influence and work effectively across the organization. Strong diplomacy skills and execution skills. Credibility, respect and trust of the team and counterparts. Demonstrated subject matter expertise. Strategic and original thinker with excellent and pragmatic judgment. Sense of humor and humility.
