Job Responsibilities and Requirements: The Chief Information Officer/Senior IT Director is responsible for the directing and coordinating of college staff, plus a number of students, engaged in administrative systems, computer operations, networking, help desk, web applications, computer lab support, desk top, audio visual and media services. Essential Job Functions Be a member of various college committees Establish and direct the strategic long-term goals, policies and procedures for an information technology department. Determine an organization s long-term systems needs and hardware and software acquisitions to accomplish the organization s business objectives. Direct information management budgeting, strategic and tactical planning, business process re-engineering, applications support, network/infrastructure, user services (help desk, desktop support, training, audiovisual and database system strategy. Oversee planning and implementation of all business and student information systems. (Banner) Direct the information strategy of the company/site based on forecasting information from senior management. Set the overall direction of internal business systems. Identify user needs and direct building of IT teams to work across all levels of the organization. Serve as primary corporate spokesperson for information management. Explore new technologies for future planning and potential implementation. Interface with industry on information management and information technology matters. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Qualifications Master s Degree in Information Technology or 10 years of experience in the information technology field as a CIO or Director in a diverse environment; Licensing and Certifications N/A Knowledge Skills and Abilities Varied and strong technical background that would include implementation of higher education administrative/ ERP systems (e.g. SunGard s Banner). Specific understanding of industry trends and standards required. Strong end user orientation. Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Strong work ethic ready. Organizational skills, ability to work with staff and faculty at all skill and management levels. Strong strategic thinking skills and the ability to work with client senior management team in an effective manner. A strong understanding of the business objectives of the higher education environment. Strong budget and presentation skills.
