Job Responsibilities and Requirements: Summary: Support the project management of distribution or transmission pipeline projects, including the design, engineering, and technical assistance to Washington Gas (WG) internal and external customers. WGL will hire one Engineer - at one of the three (3) levels, per skill-sets and business need, Tasks & Responsibilities: Support the engineering and project management of replacement and relocation projects for the entire System Replacement area. Review engineering plans and design submitted by various transportations agencies or external clients for conflicts with WG existing facilities. Assist in the coordination of replacement or rehabilitation projects with different transportation agencies, utility companies, and with other departments within Washington Gas. Support the identification and prioritization of projects for replacement or repair based on WG replacement programs and criteria, including providing sketch/map and scope of work for design and planning of replacement projects. Support the acquisition and procurement of materials, as well as the engineering, design, and construction support services needed for the project. Utilize WG applications/systems for the purpose of planning projects for pipeline replacement or relocation. Skills & Abilities: Level I Bachelors degree in Engineering required. Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering preferred. Certificate as Engineer-in-Training (EIT) preferred. Zero (0) - Two (2) years of related engineering experience is required. Level II Bachelor s degree in Engineering required. Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering preferred. Requires either a minimum of 2 years of engineering experience in the natural gas utility/ related industry or a minimum of 1 year of engineering experience in the natural gas utility/ related industry plus an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification. Level III Bachelor s degree in Engineering is required, preferably in Civil or Mechanical Engineering. Minimum of 3 years of experience in natural gas or process industry. Engineer-in-Training Certificate required. Knowledge of construction practices, procedures, Distribution Integrity Management Plan, and applicable codes and standards. Additional skills: Working knowledge of construction practices and procedures, as well as applicable codes and standards, preferred. Demonstrated ability to establish rapport and effective relationships with business partners. Demonstrated ability to logically analyze and solve narrowly-defined business problems. Demonstrated ability to write and present various ideas logically and concisely. Proven ability to use computer hardware and software/applications for data manipulation, analysis, and presentations.
