Job Responsibilities and Requirements: Responsibilities Handles the daily maintenance and overall operation of the Firm's computerized docketing system including the docketing of prosecution and interference due dates for all US patent, trademark and copyright cases into the docketing system including U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and court filings dates, abandoning cases, entering data relating to cases transferred to and from the Firm; Dockets due dates in docketing system as confirmation of filings are received from the USPTO; clear all due dates on the docketing system on a daily basis; Maintains the accuracy and integrity of all data entry including the data entry of new U.S. and foreign, patent, trademark, interference and litigation case data; Maintains a high level of quality by reviewing all data entry on a daily basis. Routinely proofs all data entry; Prepares client reporting letters for PTO communications as assigned; Provides back up support to the Docketing Department in other firm offices; On a rotating basis, generates and distributes the Docket Report in accordance with the Docketing Department schedule; Assists as a backup in the generation and proofing for quality of all routine and special docketing system reports as necessary, including daily audit reports, status reports, conflicts reports, annuity reports, etc.; Requirements Bachelor s Degree in Business or related field preferred; Minimum 5 years docketing experience required; Knowledge of USPTO processes and procedures. Experience utilizing docketing software; Knowledge of various court websites, docket searching and document retrieval databases (PACER, Lexis/Nexis, West CourtExpress and DC Court websites) Strong knowledge of federal and state e-filing procedures; Proficient with Microsoft Office suite applications including Outlook, Excel and Word; Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment. Excellent communication, time management and organizational skills.
