Job Responsibilities and Requirements: The Ohio Mechanical Code and County building codes and ensures work is completed in accordance with approved plans and specifications. Inspects commercial construction and renovation and performs on-site inspections of construction and structure building activities (e.g., inspects soil, structure, fire safety factors, footings, framing, insulation, ventilation, etc.). Utilizes tools and equipment during inspection process. Identifies violations and issues citations; condemns property; Makes courtesy inspections. Operates personal computer to enter collected data and information to applicable computer applications and to produce documents and worksheets. Prepares reports reflecting inspection results, problems encountered and other relevant information; Maintains files reflecting data regarding building and complaints. Responds to and attempts to resolve citizen questions and complaints. Consults with owners and contractors to discuss violations and provide technical advice regarding complying with code regulatory requirements. Attends hearings and provides expert testimony. Attends meetings and seminars. Participates in teams and committees. Monitors and ensures application of changes in building code, and construction methods and materials.
