Job Responsibilities and Requirements: This role is responsible for the following: Provide senior professional level wireless network and security implementation skill set for enterprise environments of Apply advanced professional communications concepts, industry practices and relevant policies, procedures and objectives to resolve highly complex issues Determine methods, techniques and evaluation criteria to obtain results Research and evaluate alternative technologies and architectures in relation to infrastructure needs Manage programs that include formulating strategies and administering policies, processes and resources Installation and implementation of wired and wireless network as well as security products and technologies in UCSF s complex and diverse IT infrastructure supporting unified voice, data and video communications Interface with Management and vendors to develop and implement new solutions to meet business requirements Perform technical and cost analysis as well as Capital expenditure development work for network infrastructure needs Act as an escalation for resolving problems in the enterprise network and its systems Participate in on-call duties and work some evenings, weekends, and holidays as required in support of initiatives Work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment with security and systems engineering teams to identify network security risks and issues and create plans to mitigate and resolve them Assist IT network architects in developing Capacity planning and risk management reports. INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY / INFRASTRUCTURE NETWORK SERVICES The IT Infrastructure Network Services Team provides core enterprise-wide communications services. It is responsible for the planning, installation and the management of the University s enterprise-wide data communication networks. This network is comprised of a complex IT infrastructure consisting of cable plants, network closets, routers, switches, wireless controllers, security components, telephony equipment and end-user applications, and end-user appliances. The IT Infrastructure Network Services Team is responsible for day-to-day management of voice and data end devices and infrastructure within the OSI model. Required Qualifications Bachelor s degree in information technology or related field and minimum ten years hands on experience designing, implementing and managing large-scale wireless network infrastructure consisting of Aruba products and solutions Advanced level knowledge of Aruba wireless network hardware, architectures and solutions Advanced level knowledge of wireless protocols, technologies, standards and tools Advanced level knowledge of various authentication protocols and solutions with wireless networks Advanced level understanding of modern enterprise TCP/IP data networks using standards and technologies including but not limited to: OSPF, STP, RSTP, 802.1Q, Multicast, Quality of Service and tunneling protocols Advanced knowledge and experience with network device management tools, technologies and products Understands implications of work on other areas of IT and Business Demonstrate ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization via strong verbal, written and presentation and documentation skills Demonstrated ability to analyze highly complex communication hardware and software systems for maintaining a real-time resource that impacts campus / medical center / OP-wide network users Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision Clearly understands the communications and network needs of the organization and has skills needed to address those needs Demonstrated ability to gather, organize and analyze data in the completion of a variety of functional assignments Has highly developed problem solving skills to independently resolve issues using defined parameters and technical expertise Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines Ability to work a flexible or irregular work schedule consisting of performing work during daytime, evenings, and weekends as required with little to no notice Note: Fingerprinting and background check required. Preferred Qualifications Aruba Certified Mobility Professional or equivalent Aruba Certified ClearPass Professional or equivalent Advanced level knowledge, skills and experience with Cisco Routing and Switching products Advanced Level knowledge, skills and experience with Juniper Routing and Switching products Thorough knowledge of structured cabling systems, network facilities, electrical, UPS, etc. License/Certification n/a Position Type Full Time.
