Job Responsibilities and Requirements: Duties and Accountabilities: The Social Media Strategist plays a strong content coordination and project management role in the day-to-day operation of s external site and social media channels as a member of the AFREC team. Among the principal responsibilities of the position are: Ensuring that the French and English social media channels of the Africa Region are operated in alignment with appropriate vice-presidential and corporate priorities, as well as with the Banks web-related policies and the country communications goals Preparing and maintaining a social media editorial calendar in coordination with network and corporate communications staff Applying editorial processes and approval workflows for AFR corporate social media channels, as well as reviewing, editing and writing content for publication on global channels, as well as other platforms that may emerge as appropriate channels for the AFR corporate social media efforts. Be an ambassador of the AFR in social media spaces, engaging in dialogues and answering questions where appropriate Working with online communications colleagues across the Bank Group, as well as in the External Corporate Relations Corporate Communications team (ECRCC), in conceptualizing and creating social media content Integrating the use of social media and other audience engagement tools as part of the AFR corporate communications strategy, and advising or leading others in their use to ensure maximum effectiveness Training regional and country office communications staff in social media best practice and providing regular feedback and guidance to the communications officers in charge of the regional social media channels Conceptualizing and commissioning multimedia content to support social media outreach Implementation of online campaigns (content marketing) to target key audiences, and measuring success in achieving them Establishing key performance indicators and reviewing web metrics reports, monitoring and analyzing social media metrics, establishing key performance indicators and sharing results and recommendations with regional management and staff Employ the latest social media tools and data-tracking instruments to enhance effectiveness in this area and compiling and publishing metrics reports and follow-up recommendations Advocating and articulating proposals and ideas to use social media improve the corporate sections of the AFR website Hosting Facebook Live interviews with high level guests Live-Tweeting AFREC events in French and in English Selection Criteria: Bachelors degree in Communications, Digital Communications, Social Media Marketing, Journalism, or other related disciplines, and a minimum two years of relevant experience Excellent written and spoken command of English and French Understands project management concepts sufficiently to propose and develop drafts of social media strategies with minimal supervision; can apply standard project management tools, methodologies, and processes; is able to identify and mitigate project risks as well as manage project issues Strong writing skills; able with minimum supervision to prepare and edit simple online communication products and develop drafts of moderately complex products in a clear, concise, and web-friendly style Working knowledge and functional proficiency with online performance measurement and impact analysis tools sufficient to lead or advise others in analyzing usage and trends; ability to research, identify, and map intended audiences and stakeholders, and to leverage communication tools and methodologies (such as online monitoring, web analytics, or other tools) to assess their information needs High levels of initiative, judgment, and decisiveness in accomplishing tasks; proven ability to work independently; good time-management skills and an eye for detail; ability to work effectively under stress and to juggle multiple tasks within tight deadlines Demonstrated working knowledge and application of social media communications principles and other web 2.0 technologies, including the ability to modify strategies and products to insure their most effective use as audience engagement tools Knowledge of the Africa region, the social media landscape in Sub-Saharan Africa and clear understanding of the African context Strong public speaking skills and confidence to speak in front of a large audience for Facebook Live interviews Having the ability to use your best judgment to identify and respond to potential reputational risk comments Interest in international development issues and an understanding of how communications can assist key audiences in meeting challenges Strong graphic design skills to conceptualize social media visuals like postcards, social media banners and interactive data Experience working on cross-functional teams Strong diplomatic, interpersonal, and teamwork skills; sensitivity to working in a multicultural environment Competencies Communication in International Development - Understanding of international development issues and of the communication needs of key stakeholders, such as bilateral donors, the private sector, foundations, NGOs, and academic institutions. Online Content Editing and Drafting - Ability to draft and edit simple online communications products and develop drafts of moderately complex online communications products with minimal supervision. Online Communication Strategy, Planning, and Execution - Practical experience in a full range of online communications approaches, tools and methodologies; can develop drafts of online communication plans and strategies. Online Production Tools - Proficiency with graphic design principles, industry-standard applications, and web technologies; strong ability to encode, package, embed, and web-optimize digital multimedia assets. Online Performance Measurement and Impact Analysis - Proficiency in online usage data, trends and analysis results; setting appropriate KPIs, developing gap analysis, producing reports, and making recommendations for action; can measure the effectiveness of existing online communications strategies or design new ones. Client Orientation - Identifies and meets (internal or external) client/constituent needs; builds productive client/constituent relationships; delivers client-centric solutions; takes responsibility for ensuring client/constituent satisfaction and loyalty. Teamwork and Inclusion - Values working in collaboration and respecting the views of others; understands differences in culture and values and the importance of including others views in achieving the strategic goals of and its partners.
