Job Responsibilities and Requirements: Intellectual Property Department has an opening in our New York office for a Technology Specialist with a background in Computer Science. An M.S. or M.Eng. in Computer Science or a B.S. in Computer Science with relevant industry experience is preferred. Course work in mechanical or manufacturing engineering or applied mathematics is a plus. We seek applicants with strong academic credentials, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and up to three years of patent prosecution experience. Technical experience in the areas of machine learning, image analysis, cryptography, and software architecture would be particularly useful. A successful candidate who is not a registered patent agent will be expected to take and to pass the USPTO registration exam within a year of being hired. We staff our clients patent matters leanly, affording Technology Specialists an opportunity for significant responsibility and excellent career development. They typically work one-on-one with associates and partners, gain a depth of experience in a broad range of patent strategy, drafting, prosecution and diligence matters, and get immediate client contact. Such experience has contributed to the firms consistently excellent rankings in various national satisfaction surveys and industry recognition lists. Our technology practice has a significant early stage component, and involves working closely with start-up and emerging companies from inception through financing, growth and maturity.
