Project Controls Assistant

Job Responsibilities and Requirements: The Project Controls Assistant is responsible for facilitating the creation of engineering cost schedules, coordinating procurement and managing subcontractors for high voltage substation and transmission line projects while ensuring resource management and cost accounting initiatives. Use Oracle Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project to create, update, and maintain engineering projects Update monthly forecasts, maintain client cost reports, project cash flows and transfer logs for multiple projects Successfully detect problem areas and notify Division Directors and Lead/Supervising Engineers in a timely manner to allow them to apply corrective action to restore progress and minimize schedule impact to the project Report the status of the engineering performance progress, cost code budgets based on approved estimates and actual project charges, and milestone schedule adherence Assist with upstream (prime contract) / downstream (PO & subcontract) change orders Coordinate with subcontractors to insure all client requirements are met Serve as a liaison between the Engineering Department and the Client Assist with monthly financial, pipeline, and backlog reports, project scheduling, budgets, performance studies, job cost analysis, yearend reporting, weekly man-hour reports, and other reports as requested Finalize project schedules and manpower requirements according to Company and client standards Identify Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) to assist with project manageability Other duties as required Required Qualifications/Experience Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business or other related field. Applicable experience may be substituted for the degree requirement. Minimum of 1 year of experience in project management, project controls, or project scheduling required. Qualified candidates will possess skills in the following areas: Experience with Oracle Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project, one to two years of experience is strongly preferred. Demonstrate attention to detail to accurately complete order entries, research for proposals, and complete reports as needed Ability to use critical thinking skills to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions Proven communication skills, both oral and written, to convey thoughts, ideas, and facts to a diverse group of individuals Ability to prioritize and work in a fast paced environment to meet all deadlines Proficient with MS Office including, Excel, Word, and Outlook Experience within the Power Industry is preferred. provides a competitive compensation and benefits package.
