Job Responsibilities and Requirements: As Managing Director - Operations, you will strategically lead and manage operations and support functions for several major operations functions within Principal Global Investors. Responsible for driving the development, implementation and execution of the operational strategic plan, including function vision, strategy, policies, financial and operating plans and business model across PGI's boutique structure. Act as a change agent within operations, continuously assessing areas such as function structure, operational best practices, talent and leader development, innovation opportunities, etc. Responsible for ensuring the business complies with applicable laws, regulatory environments, ethical business practices, and Principal policies. Accountabilities: Act as a primary contact and liaison for coordination of PGI's operations activities both inside and outside the organization. Ongoing coordination and cooperation with portfolio managers, information technology, client service, marketing and various key business leaders. Monitor global industry and competitive environment through research and review of market intelligence and insights to proactively identify emerging regulations that may impact team functions. Direct operations activities for PGI's multiple product and distribution channels, which may include boutique operations, securitization business and registered and unregistered products. Assure resources are aligned to support operations activities for all PGI client types and asset classes. Lead all activities related to operations organizational structure and preparedness to accommodate business needs, including new business initiatives and overall growth. Act as a key contributor in the planning, prioritization and execution of strategic, financial and operating activities and initiatives in support of PGI's centralized operations business model. Qualifications: Bachelor degree or equivalent experience required, plus 10 - 15 years of relevant industry experience (operations, financial services, asset management etc.). MBA preferred. Proven ability to articulate a compelling vision and case for change and strong consensus building Proven and strong ability in area of people leadership required. Extensive knowledge of investment products and services, asset management operations, including systems, financials and operations preferred. Demonstrated success in process improvement or operational excellence strongly preferred. Strong analytical, problem solving, communication and negotiation skills required. Must demonstrate strategic and long-range visionary thinking. Proven strong abilities in the areas of building strategic partnerships, influencing, negotiation, problem solving, analytical thinking, decision-making, presentations and written and verbal communication required. Must have strong business acumen with strong results-orientation. Must have ability to work on issues independently and manage teams of both direct reports and resources in other functions and geographies to execute strategic initiatives. Travel, including overnight stays required (less than 25%).
