Job Responsibilities and Requirements: The VP & COO will be responsible for: a) Leading the implementation of Maximizing Finance for Development initiative for working closely with Bank and IFC; b) Reviewing operational relationship for business development and project execution and proposing any changes or redesign; c) Reviewing the IFC operational relationship for business development and project execution and proposing any changes or redesign; d) Enhancing the business pipeline through enhancing the relationship with the host countries and Bank/IFC; e) Leading the delivery of the IDA Private Sector Window commitment; f) Overseeing the progress of the execution of transactions and keeping the management team (MMT) informed of any major issues identified; g) Managing the monitoring portfolio from the MIGOP perspective and keeping the MMT informed of any major issues identified; h) Guiding the career development of MIGOP staff; i) Supporting the EVP & CEO on other agreed upon initiatives. Selection Criteria: In addition to impeccable ethics and integrity, candidates for this position will be known for their tact and diplomacy, as well as with how to deal well with difficult and sensitive problems. The Candidate will have strong project finance or political risk insurance experience and a proven track record in people management in a multicultural environment. She/he will be an excellent team player, an outstanding communicator, sensitive to cultural and gender diversity, and strongly committed to economic development and the alleviation of poverty in developing countries. S/he will possess outstanding intellect, leadership and analytical abilities as well as excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills. Although no one person will embody all of the qualities below, the ideal candidate will possess many of the following professional and personal characteristics: Finance expertise: S/he will have credibility across public and private sectors alike, including demonstrated effectiveness in influencing views of diverse stakeholders. Commitment to the mission of Group, translating broad strategies into specific objectives and action plans; aligning the organization to support strategic priorities Role expertise: S/he will have an advanced degree in a relevant discipline and substantial years of relevant applied professional experience, ideally within an IFI; a demonstrated track record in thought leadership and innovation. Relevant experience in the areas of project finance, investment protection, political risk insurance, complex commercial transactions and insurance and guarantees. Familiarity with the principles of economic development, investment analysis and insurance portfolio management. People leadership skills: S/he will have demonstrated excellent leadership skills and an ability to work as part of a team within the Agency, but as well with the senior management of Group (Bank and IFC). Ability and proven track record in working through teams, deliver high quality work within deadlines, budget and to meet team objectives. Adept at attracting high caliber people and nurturing skills and qualifications of the staff in Operations; cultivates an active network of relationships inside and outside the organization. Internal collaboration skills: S/he will have to demonstrate the ability to operate in matrixed, highly collaborative and global organizations. They will have functioned at a high level in a multi-cultural and diverse environment.
