Job Responsibilities and Requirements: The organization operates a one-of-a-kind, homeless-specialty continuum of care that has quickly become one the premiere models of its kind across the nation. CTC programs operate within the designation of Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), and include an innovative freestanding 50-bed homeless medical respite center, an integrated medical/behavioral family health center and a robust community health outreach program. Today, these programs serve more than 3,500 homeless men, women and children each year. CTC board of directors recently approved a strategic plan that, if attained, will grow the organization s operating profile by 50% and 25% per year for each of the next two years, respectively. During this same period, CTC will grow its total patient capacity by nearly threefold to more than 10,000 patients per year via the launch of three new freestanding programs. To execute on this aggressive plan within the broader context of a rapidly changing health care environment, CTC s board of directors has recently approved the hiring of the organization s first Chief Operating Officer. Job Description Reporting to the CEO, the Chief Development Officer (CDO) is responsible for comprehensively planning, directing and overseeing the philanthropic efforts of the organization, including but not limited to major donor initiatives, grants administration, special event coordination, corporate partnerships, campaigns, planned giving, etc. It is expected that the CDO operates as the organization s primary major gifts officer, and as such spend roughly 70% of his or her time directly cultivating gifts $10,000. The residual 30% of the successful candidate s capacity will focus on the operational leadership of the department and various initiatives therein. Supervisory Responsibility: Development Manager (open), Director of Mission Advancement (part-time), Development Coordinator (open), Grants Specialist. The CDO will have the opportunity to personally recruit and hire for the two open positions. Location: Phoenix, AZ 85013 Term: Full Time Years of Experience: Minimum 5-7 years progressive leadership responsibility in nonprofit fundraising. Education Level: Bachelor s Degree in Marketing, Sales, Nonprofit Administration, Management or other related field required. Master s degree desirable. Requires a current Arizona state drivers license. Details: Essential Responsibilities: Duties include, but are not limited to: Serves as a key member of CTC s Senior Leadership Team and one of the organization s top ambassadors to the surrounding community. Conducts his or herself with the highest degree of professionalism, transparency and respect. Collaborates with CTC s board, CEO and senior leadership team on the development and implementation of annual strategic plan. Develops, monitors and achieves net fundraising targets and key performance indicators for the development team. Reports progress to CEO and board of directors on a monthly basis. Identifies, cultivates and solicits donors with meaningful capacity to give to Circle the City s mission. Develops and executes a disciplined and systematic approach to the cultivation process. Secures new major donors and retains existing donors into the future. Administers and supports annual fundraising events via both direct involvement and assignment of departmental resources; Partners closely with the organization s Board Development Chair to guide and support the board development committee in the achievement of company goals. Oversees the administration of systems and data that support philanthropic efforts, including the organization s donor database and related infrastructure. Annually drafts the organization s development plan for adoption by the board of directors. Hires, trains, evaluates performance and supervises staff to provide professional, courteous and timely services. Conducts performance management and terminations as necessary within the framework of board-approved policies. Appropriately manages staff to ensure compliance with applicable standards, adheres to organization s policies and procedures, including standards of behavior and safety guidelines. Assists with the formation, implementation, and maintenance of policies and procedures, job descriptions and personnel competencies within the assigned area of responsibility. Provides in-depth support to the organization s annual budgeting process, collaborating closely with the CFO to ensure key plans, assumptions and projections are accurate and attainable. Oversee the organization s marketing and communications strategy, including public relations, marketing strategy and social media. Presents development and philanthropy efforts in new employee orientation and town halls. Other duties as assigned.
