Special Projects Manager

Job Responsibilities and Requirements: Responsibilities: Manage and administer department functions including operating budgets, staffing, wage reviews, work assignments, performance evaluations, etc. Monitors availability and flow of personnel as well as hiring, motivating and assigning teams to projects Leads the effort to identify and qualify high-potential special project opportunities and assists in securing new work by investigating leads, participating in estimates, working with subcontractors and/or participating in proposals and presentations Oversees and provides support to any number of special projects from an operational, financial and resource standpoint Reviews all special project division labour cost reports and forecasts identifying signs of trouble and developing plans Integrates the division s operations with the overall district goals Coordinates with professional staff to resolve operating problems, disputes and negotiations Maintains existing client relationships that lead to repeat work Trains and coaches all staff within division for future growth and development opportunities either within division or within major projects Compiles and prepares information for monthly operations report and long-range year end planning in major project initiatives Qualifications: 4 year college diploma in construction related discipline 7-10 years minimum experience in the construction industry 2 years minimum experience in a supervisory/managerial position Advanced knowledge of the construction industry and company operations Extensive knowledge of construction specifications, methods and procedures Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, including Excel, Word and Outlook and internal operational systems Ability to apply engineering principles to construction challenges Ability to assess trends and create action plans, solutions and policies Understanding of current market conditions and ability to identify competitors Ability to identify risk associated with contract/project documents Ability to evaluate estimates on multiple projects and clients Ability to schedule, determine quantities, and monitor and forecast resources and staffing for district Strong ability to develop and maintain relationships Possess an outgoing and positive personality Ability to use influential language.
